Dizygopleura was named by Ulrich and Bassler (1923) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl C Tour-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2,1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Kloedenellidae by Benson et al. (1961); and to Platycopida by Sepkoski (2002).
