Taxonomy
Maorirhynchia mackayi was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is OU 16547, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is McF H49, Glenomaru Stream (H46/f067), which is in an Otamitan marine horizon in New Zealand.
