Taxonomy
Maorirhynchia taringaturana was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is C1463, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is JDC 496, Taringatura Hills (E45/f6640), which is in an Otamitan marine horizon in New Zealand.
