Taxonomy
Sakawairhynchia bencallumensis was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is OU 16505, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is MWB 189, Otapiri Stream (E45/f050), which is in an Otamitan marine horizon in New Zealand.
