Taxonomy
Murihikurhynchia carolinae was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is OU 16638, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is JDC 743, Caroline (E44/f9514), which is in an Oretian marine horizon in New Zealand.
