Taxonomy
Herangirhynchia otapiriensis was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is OU 16858, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is JDC 1270, Otapiri Stream (E45/f9601), which is in an Otapirian marine horizon in New Zealand.
