Taxonomy
Herangirhynchia otamitaensis was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is NZGS BR 1840, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is GS 7626, Otamita Valley (F45/f8777), which is in a Hettangian marine sandstone in New Zealand.
