Taxonomy
Fissirhynchia wakefieldensis was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is NZGS BR 1851, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is GS 12379, Gibb's Road (N28/f008), which is in an Oretian marine horizon in New Zealand.
