Taxonomy
Aucklandirhynchia sexagesimae was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is JDC C2918, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is JDC 1837, Conical Hill, Otapiri Gorge (E45/f9860), which is in a Pliensbachian marine horizon in New Zealand.
