Kawhiarhynchia kawhiana
Taxonomy
Rhynchonella (Cryptorhynchia) kawhiana was named by Trechmann (1923). Its type specimen is BMNH B 48949, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ohineruru Bay, Totara Peninsula, Kawhia (R15/f8027), which is in an Oxfordian marine sandstone in New Zealand. It is the type species of Kawhiarhynchia.
It was recombined as Kawhiarhynchia kawhiana by MacFarlan (1992).
