Ceriopora was named by Goldfuss (1826) [Sepkoski's age data: J Aale T Plio Sepkoski's reference number: 908]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Heteroporidae by Gordon and Taylor (1999); to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cerioporidae by Gordon and Taylor (2015).
