Taxonomy
Sakawairhynchia momeaensis was named by MacFarlan (1992). Its type specimen is OU 17496, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is JDC 3196, Col de Moméa (NC/f378), which is in an Oretian marine horizon in New Caledonia.
