Meliceritites was named by Römer (1840) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eleidae by Bassler (1953), Taylor (2010), Taylor and Zagorsek (2011) and Novack-Gottshall (2022).
