Crisina was named by d'Orbigny (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni T Than Sepkoski's reference number: 626].

It was assigned to Idmoneidae by Ulrich and Bassler (1904); to Petaloporidae by Bassler (1953); to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Crisinidae by Schmidt (2003) and Gordon and Taylor (2015).
