Taxonomy
Peristernia insula was named by Olsson (1922). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Water Cay [Cayo Agua Fm], which is in a Piacenzian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Cayo Agua Formation of Panama.
