Synaptichnium diabloensis
Taxonomy
Chirotherium diabloensis was named by Peabody (1948). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UCMP 36819, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Meteor Crater Quarry area, tracksites, which is in a Spathian wet floodplain mudstone in the Moenkopi Formation of Arizona.
It was recombined as Synaptichnium diabloensis by Klein and Lucas (2010) and Gand et al. (2012); it was misspelled as Synaptichnium diabloense by Klein et al. (2011); it was recombined as Synaptichnium diabloense by Haubold (1971), Demathieu and Haubold (1972), Haubold (1974), Gand (1974), Lucas et al. (2007), Gand et al. (2007) and Klein and Lucas (2021).
