Taxonomy
Chirotherium marshalli was named by Peabody (1948). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UCMP 37348, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Isochirotherium marshalli by Haubold (1971), Demathieu and Haubold (1972), Haubold (1974), Courel and Demathieu (1976), Klein and Lucas (2010), Klein et al. (2011) and Klein and Lucas (2021).

Peabody 1948Small-manus chirotheriid with pes digit IV noticeably shorter than II; pes length 22 cm.; pes digit group I-IV as broad as long, pes digit V with large ovoid meta­tarsal pad and reduced phalangeal portion; trackway apparently very narrow, pace angu­lation near 180 degrees, and ratio of stride to pes length 5 to 1.
