Ptilorhynchia glabra was named by Dagys (1968). Its type specimen is IGiG 308/78 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Boyarka River, Khatanga region (Valanginian), which is in a Valanginian marine siliciclastic in the Russian Federation.
