Venus staminea was named by Conrad (1837). It is extant.

It was recombined as Tapes staminea by Ashley (1895); it was recombined as Paphia staminea by Arnold and Hannibal (1913); it was recombined as Venerupis staminea by Delong (1941); it was recombined as Protothaca staminea by Addicott (1966); it was recombined as Protothaca (Protothaca) staminea by Coan et al. (2000); it was recombined as Leukoma staminea by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012) and Hendy (2021).

Synonyms
  • Chione ruderata was named by Deshayes (1853). It is extant.

    It was recombined as Protothaca ruderata by Addicott (1963); it was synonymized subjectively with Protothaca (Protothaca) staminea by Coan et al. (2000).
  • Tapes diversa was named by Sowerby (1852). It is extant.

    It was corrected as Tapes diversum by Conrad (1855); it was synonymized subjectively with Leukoma staminea by Hendy (2021).
