Taxonomy
Callianassa elongata was named by Rathbun (1918). Its type specimen is USNM 324171 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cava Rossi di Monte di Malo (Morozovella lehneri zone), which is in a Lutetian carbonate limestone in Italy.
