Cypraea campbelliana was named by Pilsbry (1922). Its type specimen is ANSP 3000, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Mauritia (Mauritia) campbelliana by Dolin (1991); it was recombined as Luria campbelliana by Landau and Groves (2011).
