Taxonomy
Cancellaria (Charcolleria) terryi was named by Olsson (1942) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Colombia.]. Its type specimen is PRI 4045, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quebrada Penitas [Penita Fm], which is in a Pliocene offshore shale in the Penita Formation of Costa Rica.
It was recombined as Cancellaria terryi by Olsson (1942); it was recombined as Charcolleria terryi by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010); it was recombined as Massyla terryi by Landau et al. (2012) and Landau et al. (2012).
