Taxonomy
Plagioecia was named by Canu (1918) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo R Sepkoski's reference number: 1241]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Plagioeciidae.

It was assigned to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Plagioeciidae by Bassler (1953), Lee et al. (1997), Guha and Gopikrishna (2007), Hara and Taylor (2009), Guha (2013), Gordon and Taylor (2015) and Brezina et al. (2021).
