Cancellaria dariena was named by Toula (1908) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Cancellaria) dariena by Woodring (1928), Oinomikado (1939), Olsson (1964) and Landau et al. (2007); it was recombined as Cancellaria (Cancellaria) epistomifera dariena by Woodring (1970); it was recombined as Bivetiella dariena by Landau et al. (2012).
