Taxonomy
Cancellaria (Pyruclia) uva was named by Jung and Petit (1990). Its type specimen is NMB H 17305, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NMB Loc. 17275 - Arroyo Lopez [Cercado Fm], which is in a Messinian marine siltstone in the Cercado Formation of the Dominican Republic.

It was recombined as Pyruclia uva by Landau et al. (2012).
