Taxonomy
Cancer granti was named by Rathbun (1932). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA 1096, Olive Community no 1 well, which is in a Piacenzian marine siliciclastic in the Pico Formation of California.
It was recombined as Cancer (Romaleon) granti by Nations (1975); it was recombined as Metacarcinus granti by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
