Solanumxylon paranensis
Taxonomy
Solanumxylon paranensis was named by Franco and Brea (2008). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is PALBO 24. PALBOmic 594, a plant debris (log), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Nivel Fosilifero 1, Toma Vieja, ParanĂ¡, which is in a Miocene terrestrial siltstone in the ParanĂ¡ Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Solanumxylon.

Diffuse porosity, solitary and rarely in radial multiple series of 2 and clusters, vessels small to medium sized, and scarce. Vessel elements short. Simple perforation plates. Intervessel pits bordered and alternate. Rays homocellular, numerosous, with procumbent cells. Rays 2-3 o multiseriate, some uniseriate, thin and wide. Fibers poligonal and quadrangular in section, very abundant, in radial arrangement or irregular arrangement. Septate fibers. Axial parenchyma diffuse-in-aggregates. |
