Ototriton solidus was named by Loomis (1919) [Placed by Loomis in the Salamandridae]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Type Locality of Ototriton solidus, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in Wyoming. It is the type species of Ototriton.
