Poinar 2002Flowers perfect, calyx of three short, broad sepals, connate only at the extreme base, their apices irregu- lar, broadly ovate to nearly truncate; petals 3, slightly more than three times the length of the sepals, ovate, imbricate, fleshy, broadly acute, hairy, especially near the tip and along the edges; stamens 6, exserted, 1.8–2.0 times the length of the petals, filaments broad at base, narrowing at the tip, upper 15–20% of fila- ment appears different in texture from lower portion and often bent inwards toward the centre of the flower; anthers linear, oblong, versatile, latrose; pollen not observed; carpels 3, closely appressed with short to medium erect or slightly recurved adjacent styles; apical stigma (some flowers had very minute carpels indicating either an abortive state or retarded develo- pment of the gynoecium).
