Taxonomy
Tipula paleopannonia was named by Engel and Gross (2012). Its type specimen is LMJ 204.151, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Paldau, which is in a Tortonian pond siltstone in the Paldau Formation of Austria.
