Cancellaria gabbiana was named by Pilsbry and Johnson (1917). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cancellaria (Bivetiella) gabbiana by Jung and Petit (1990); it was recombined as Bivetiella gabbiana by Landau et al. (2012).
