Taxonomy
Perplicaria canae was named by Jung and Petit (1990). Its type specimen is NMB H 17330, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 1230, Río Cana [Gurabo Fm], which is in a Messinian marine siliciclastic in the Gurabo Formation of the Dominican Republic.
