Psilatricolpites simplex was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 62, 3.5 x 103.1, a microspore (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

It was recombined as Ladakhipollenites simplex by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001).
