Taxonomy
Palaeoperenethis thaleri was named by Selden and Penney (2009). Its type specimen is ROM 31304, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Horsefly Mine, locality 8 (ROM collection), which is in a Ypresian lacustrine - large mudstone in Canada. It is the type species of Palaeoperenethis.
