Striatricolpites catatumbus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-73-574 (Catatumbo). Loc: 45.6X124 (micr. P0-58)., a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain tricolpate, spheroidal to subspheroidal; furrow C α I, C β 2, C γ I; sculpture type striate, simplibaculate; semitectate. Furrows are bifurcate toward the poles. Thickness of exine about 1.5 μ; ectexine thicker than endexine. Polar area about 6.5 μ.
