Retitricolpites adultus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-9-582 (Catatumbo). Loc: 46.4X113.7 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain tricolpate, prolate; furrow C α 3, C β 1, C γ 2. Sculpture type micro-reticulate (maximum diameter of lumina 0.7 μ). Thickness of exine about 1.5 μ. Grain semitectate with clearly visible columellae; muri simplibaculate. Polar area small. Delimitation of furrwos very irregular. Some otherwise identical grains seem to be psilate.
