Retitricolpites simplex was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-72-478 (Catatumbo). Loc: 33.2X125.4 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain tricolpate, prolate; furrow C α 1, C β 2, C γ 1. Sculpture type reticulate (diameter of lumina 0.8 μ). Grain semitectate. Furrows with costae colpi. Thickness of exine about 1.7 μ; ectexine thicker than endexine. Muri simplibaculate. Polar area very small.
