Retibrevitricolpites catatumbus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-20-564 (Catatumbo). Loc: 26.5X112.7 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain tricolpate to tricolporate, subspheroidal; furrow C α 1, C β 2, C γ 1; sculpture type per-reticulate (maximum diameter of lumina 0.5 μ). Polar area extensive (about 12μ). Thickness of exine about 1μ; wall semitectate. Ectexine thicker than endexine. Muri simplibaculate. 'Costae transversales' and 'costae colpi' present.
