Taxonomy
Foveotricolporites marginatus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-57-598 (Catatumbo) Loc: 118.5X34.4 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain tricolporate, prolate-subprolate; furrow C α 1, C β 2-3, C γ 1-2; pore P α 1, P β 1, P γ 1; sculpture type foveolate (maximum diameter of lumina < 0.5 μ). Thickness of exine 1.5 μ, with ectexine about as thick as endexine. Wall presumably tektite. Colpi mostly with distinct margo. Polar area 5 μ. Pores not sharply outlined in some specimens.
