Taxonomy
Neophricadothyris cordata was named by Cooper and Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 152505j, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Permophricodothyris cordata by Shi et al. (2002).
