Polotricolporites mocinnii

Taxonomy
Polotricolporites mocinnii was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-96-579 (Catatumbo). Loc: 33.6X118.3 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Polotricolporites.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain tricolporate equatorial limb, subangular; furrow C α 1b, C β 2, C γ 1; pore P α 3, P β 2, P γ 1; sculpture type reticulate (muri more or less duplibaculate; lumina decreasing in size towards the colpi). Maximum diameter of lumina 1.8 μ, diminishing towards the furrows. Furrows connected at the poles by 'ridges'. Grain semitectate, but in the intercolpia there are zones that are clearly intectate. Thickness of exine 1.5-2 μ. Exine thinner towards the colpi. Ectexine thicker than endexine.
