Taxonomy
Bacustephanocolpites stereos was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-55-596 (Catatumbo). Loc: 43.1X127.6 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Bacustephanocolpites.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain stephanocolpate (5 furrows), subspheroidal; furrow C α 1, C β 2, C γ 1; sculpture type baculate; length of bacula 1.5 μ. Furrows very short (about 3.5 μ) and apparently provided with costae transversals. Thickness of exine about 2 μ; ectexine thicker than endexine. Wall probably intectate.
