Telopora was named by Canu and Bassler (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant. Its type is Telopea strahanensis.
It was assigned to Tretocycloeciidae by Bassler (1953); to Cyclostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Tubuliporina by Gordon and Taylor (2015).
