Taxonomy
Spirosyncolpites spiralis was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-96-579 (Catatumbo). Loc: 32.2X124 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Spirosyncolpites.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain 'syncolpate', (furrow forming a helix often not clearly visible), spheroidal-subspheroidal; furrow C α 1, C β 1, C γ 1; sculpture conspicuously and coarsely reticulate; lumina of equal size. Muri simplibaculate. Grain probably semitectate. Diameter of lumina about 6-7 μ; width of murk about 1.5-3 μ. Exine about 7.5 μ thick. Wall semitectate.
