Taxonomy
Spirosyncolpites clavatus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-96-579 (Catatumbo). Loc: 45.8X121.4 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967 | Pollen grain 'syncolpate' (furrows forming helices), spheroidal; furrow C α 1-2, C β 1b, C γ 1; sculpture type reticulate (lumina of equal size); muri simplibaculate. Sometimes reticulum appears incomplete and , if so, sculpture becomes clavate. Diameter of lumina of reticulum about 6-7 μ; width of muri about 1.5-3 μ. Exine about 7.5 μ thick. Wall semitectate.
