Triton oregonense was named by Redfield (1846). It is extant.

It was recombined as Priene oregonensis by Arnold (1907); it was recombined as Fusitriton oregonensis by Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Smith (1970), Marincovich (1983), Marincovich (1988), Beu (2010) and Hendy (2020).
