Triton aquatilis was named by Reeve (1844). It is extant.

It was recombined as Cymatium (Septa) aquatile by Wolfe (1975); it was recombined as Cymatium aquatile by Vega-Luz and Vega-Luz (1995); it was recombined as Monoplex aquatilis by Beu (2010).
