Paragymnites symmetricus
Taxonomy
Pinacoceras symmetricum was named by von Mojsisovics (1873). Its type specimen is GBA 1873/005/0074 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rossmoos, grauem Marmor, which is in a Sevatian carbonate limestone in the Halstatt Formation of Austria.
It was recombined as Placites symmetricus by von Mojsisovics (1902) and Bychkov et al. (1976); it was recombined as Paragymnites symmetricus by Tozer (1994) and Tatzreiter and Zorn (2013).
