Triton lignarius was named by Broderip (1833). It is extant.

It was recombined as Cymatium lignarium by Dall (1909); it was recombined as Cymatium (Turritriton) lignarium by Beu (1985); it was recombined as Cymatium (Monoplex) lignarium by Beu (2001); it was recombined as Monoplex lignarius by Beu (2010).
