Triton macrodon was named by Valenciennes (1832). It is extant.

It was recombined as Cymatium (Septa) macrodon by Emerson and Old (1963); it was recombined as Cymatium (Monoplex) macrodon by Beu (1985); it was recombined as Cymatium pileare macrodon by Emerson (1991); it was recombined as Monoplex macrodon by Beu (2010).
